“VATICAN CITY - The Vatican insisted Friday that it is properly following Christian tradition by excluding females from the priesthood as it issued a new warning that women taking part in ordinations will be excommunicated.
The move dashed the hopes both of women seeking to be priests and of Catholics who see that as an option for a church struggling to recruit men.”
I don’t find this surprising, at all. I do, however, see a split from the church and a new Roman Catholic denomination much more of a possiblity now.

After the pedophilia scandal that they still have not come to terms with*, why there even is still a Catholic Church simply is appalling.
And the pervasive misogyny in the church shocks me even more that a single woman continues to profess Catholicism.
*Cardinal Law was given a cushy job in the Vatican to escape scrutiny in the USA. The only reason he escaped prosecution was the statute of limitations on what he did. Prosecutors said he was clearly guilty, they just couldn’t prosecute. The Pope himself faced prosecution in the USA for his role in hiding these crimes and Bush assured him there would be no prosecutions before Benedict visited the USA. This is all part of the public record.
